27th Annual Shih-I Pai Lecture "Structural Color-Origin and Evolution in Nature"

When: Tuesday, October 19, 2021 4:00 PM - 5:30 PM
Where: Virtual
Description: Professor Hui Cao, Yale University. Structural color originates from physical interaction of light with nanostructures. An interdisciplinary team, consisting of optical physicists, material scientists, and biologists at Yale, has investigated the physical mechanism for coloration of nanostructures with short-range order in bird feather barbs. The study reveals the physical mechanism of structural color evolution, which stands in sharp contrast to pigment color evolution.
Topical Areas: Faculty and Staff, Open to Public, Academics, Speakers and Lectures, College of Computer, Mathematical and Natural Sciences
